One of my favourite songs by Foals, featuring one my favourite Jack Bevan drum parts!
A few things to watch out for:
That verse groove. It’s pretty intricate! If you struggle with the hi-hat pattern, simplify it. Straight eighth notes will still sound good.
I’ve used quite a lot of repeats in the transcriptions, so watch out for those.
You might confused about what you should do in bars 64 to 72. You can’t really hear the crashes on the track but live Jack Bevan plays the hi-hat with his right hand and the crash with his left. The cymbals start quietly and gradually build in volume. You’ll see what I mean in this video of Foals’ 2015 Reading Festival performance.
